‘You’re more important than you think’
Yes, there are billions of people in the world, but this does not negate your value
I saw a meme on Pinterest recently which said something like, ‘In case you’re overinflating your importance today, there are x billion people in the world, so just chill.’
It was funny and, I guess, supposed to be reassuring when we overthink things and worry about stuff we have no control over. But while I read and appreciated it, when I tried to find it just now in order to share it with you, I couldn’t find it in any of my saved posts so on some level, I must not have wanted to identify with it.
Pinterest has been somewhat of a lifeline for me recently with sayings and posts that make me laugh, think and consider. Most of them I share with friends (lucky you!), and we commiserate with each other over the plights we commonly experience. But I also recognise that Pinterest is not a dictionary nor is it Wikipedia, which seems to garner the same level of respect as the Oxfords and Cambridges of an historic English world. (Historic because the world is finally becoming more global – but that’s for another essay…)
