‘There’s nothing I don’t love about women’
Its International Women’s Day on 8 March and I’ve got all the feels…
I love women, but I haven’t always. In my teens and through my 20s, I often felt intimidated by the cooler, smarter, richer, and more attractive and/or more spiritual girls around me. The typical mean girl energy exposed in films such as, well, Mean Girl, just proved that the female gender is generally bitchier and less friendly than the male counterpart. This was despite going to an all-girls school that I adored and leading a women’s group in church. I had loads of female friends but could never shake off that feeling that if I put one step out of place, I’d be cancelled. Sadly, JK Rowling’s experience has shown that to be pretty accurate, but in my 30s, I have settled into a fond appreciation for my sex:
