When Harrods opened their first ever outlet at Westfield White City, I was first in line. And I don’t mean that metaphorically, I mean I was literally the first in line. My lifelong friend and shopping partner advised me we should probably get there super early to beat the queue. So I had the all important conversation with my then line manager at work. It went something like this:
Me: I know it’s rather last minute but can I take tomorrow morning off?
Manager, looking worried: Sure, is everything okay?
Me: Yeah I’m fine, I just want to go to the Harrods sale!
Manager, after a confused silence: Are you joking?
No, no I wasn’t joking. And no, I couldn't wait til the weekend. This outlet was opening on Friday, therefore I needed to be there on Friday. As it happens, I was way too early. The aforementioned friend rocked up two hours later when there was a queue and sauntered over to me, coffee in hand, thanking me for holding her place. Anyway, I share that story to get across just how seriously I take shopping and especially sales.
